Brennan and Shelby crossed paths at a Battle of the Bands in May 2007—though only one of them remembers it. From the start, there was a imbalance: Brennan noticed Shelby right away, while Shelby was blissfully unaware for years. Aside from a prom memory, occasional shared space, and various (secret) text chains, life kept Shelby and Brennan moving in the same circles, just never quite at the same time.

After high school, their paths pulled them in different directions. Shelby moved away to pursue a career in engineering. Brennan stayed close to home, heading to welding school and building a steady life in familiar surroundings.

During those years, their connection lingered as a gentle “what if”—appearing and disappearing, sometimes close, sometimes distant, but never quite lining up.

It wasn’t until the pandemic slowed everything down that things began to shift. Brennan started showing up more consistently in Shelby’s life (although Shelby was 100% convinced, she was friends zoned). Eventually, what once felt mistimed began aligning.

As their relationship began to truly flourish, Brennan grew in ways that surprised even him—stepping beyond familiar territory, embracing greater independence, and meeting challenges with a courage and boldness that hadn’t always come easily before.

At the same time, Shelby revealed something just as meaningful. Known for her drive, ambition, and occasionally setting her own life on fire, she showed that

there is one person who can gently ground that momentum—creating space for rest and balance without dimming her spark.

Together, they’re worked to build a life where both can fully be themselves—bold and steady, driven and grounded. Along the way, they've added two dogs to their family, a small but telling sign of Brennan’s growth. Through it all, they've discovered the best part of their story isn’t just the milestones or the big moments—it’s the everyday, ordinary ones they get to share, knowing that they are exactly where they’re meant to be: building a life full of love and the kind of partnership that makes everything else fall into place.

If you had told those two kids in 2007 that one day they would be getting ready to celebrate their wedding, they never would have believed you. They are immeasurably grateful to have reconnected and built this life together and can’t wait to celebrate their journey and love with all of you on June 16th.
